Lord Byron is one of the most excellent representatives of English Romanticism (浪漫主義) and one of the most influential poets of the time,His best known works are Childe Harolds Pilgrimage and Don Juan

Byron’s fame lies not only in his writings,but also in his life.He was described by Lady Caroline Lamb as“mad,bad,and dangerous to know”.

Born on January22,1788,Byron spent his early years in Aberdeen,and was educated at Harrow School and Cambridge University.In 1809,he left for a two-year tour of a number of Mediterranean countries.He returned to England in 1 811,and in 1812 the first two cantos (篇)of Childe Harolds Pilffrimoge were published.Byron became famous overnight.

In 1 8 1 5.Byron married Annabella Milbanke,with whom he had a daughter.The couple separated in 1816.Facing the pressure of his failed marriage and huge debts,Byron left England in April 1816 and never returned.He spent the summer of l 8 1 6 at Lake Geneva with Percy Bysshe Shelley.

Byron traveled to Italy, where he was to 1ive for more than six),ears.It was in this period that Byron wrote some of his most famous works,including Don Juan.On April 19,1824,he died from fever at Missolonghi in Greece.His death was mourned throughout Britain.His body was brought back to England and buried at his hometown in Nottinghamshire.

Byron influenced many authors and artists of the Romantic Movement during the 19th century.
